What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I was tired of aimlessly scrolling through Facebook all the time bored out of my mind. I needed a purpose. I have always had a knack for helping people and I thought “what the hell” and gave Younique a shot!
Tell us about your business.
I am a representative for Younique. Yes, the one with the crazy 3D mascara. We sell makeup and skincare while providing an exceptional experience to women all over the world. Our company has a foundation that helps women who were sexually abused as children by providing a safe haven retreat. Our mission is to uplift, empower and validate women and I have seen that first hand. I could go on for hours.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
I always have specials and deals located in a private VIP group on Facebook. We just launched our Spring Collection today – March 1st, 2017.
Where is your business based?
The beauty of direct sales is that I can work from anywhere as long as I have my phone. I am constantly working on the go. Most times it doesn’t feel like work. Our head office is located in Utah which I will visit very soon.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
I jumped in with both feet and never looked back. I watched a ton of videos and started following a lot of successful women in network marketing. I figured if they could do it, I could too. I am constantly learning; reading books, personal development, listening to podcasts, watching videos, participating in training events etc.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Facebook live! It has truly changed my business. It allows me to come to life and interact with multiple people at once. I like to think I am a bit of a character – it keeps me raw and transparent with my clientele. Whether we are laughing or crying or both, each video is a unique experience.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
My biggest challenge so far would have to be not believing in myself as much as I should. When IÂ buckle down and just do it, I am rewarded in so many ways. Once you start investing in yourself and believing in yourself, you can do anything.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I opened up about it. I struggle with being an open book sometimes, especially in areas where I feel vulnerable. But the beauty of my business is that I am whole heartedly supported by hundreds of women from all over the world. They are amazing teachers and inspiring and motivate me to be better. We are all on the same team no matter where the paycheck comes from.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
My business is my happy place. If it’s a bad day, I usually reach out to clients to see how they are loving the products. Positive feedback usually gives me an extra boost to keep pushing through.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
Within our company we do not compete. Even with other direct sales companies who provide similar products, we support them. Makeup and skincare is a billion dollar industry. There is room for everyone. But I do especially believe in our company, our mission, our CEOs and founders and our product. There is nothing like it on the market.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Do not be afraid to fail. Failure will make us better in everything we do. It’s how we respond to failure that shapes our future.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Just go for it. Find your passion and live it. When it doesn’t feel like work then you found the right spot… but do the work! There are so many tools available to be successful. It’s not hard work, but it is a lot of work. Don’t have unrealistic expectations, give yourself 4 years.
What is your favorite business tool or resource?
Google! You can find ANYTHING on Google. Yes, including how to build a successful business through network marketing and direct sales.

What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
Right now I am learning how to be a better leader. I have a team of about 11 girls and I want to be a successful and inspiring mentor to them so they can have the fulfillment that I have.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
We have a huge product launch happening so this is a very very exciting time. I will be busy and my goal is to help my girls reach promotions. Time to get organized!
