Jaclyn Zukerman started out in the world of event planning working for family. She started walking through the hallways of her high school handing out business cards on her brother’s behalf to have him be the go-to service for local entertainment for her friends bar/bat mitzvahs. Jaclyn did great booking parties and her brother Steven even wrote JZ checks every time she closed a deal! She felt like a rockstar and knew she was on to something! In February of 2016, Jaclyn said she was going to learn how to create a magazine and two months later she did it and delivered! Not only in digital but in PRINT! Her magazine and event business took off so well she wanted to protect her brand and her rights, so she trademarked and incorporated in October 2016 to NEXTonSCENE™ for the magazine & radio and that is how JZ Social Enterprises and LLC was born. Read our interview with the lovely Jaclyn below…
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I LOVE helping and showcasing others. Since I was 13, I worked as an event planner helping my older brother book my friends bar & bat mitzvahs and other special events! There is so much talent that gets unnoticed and I want to help bring light to them!
Tell us about your business.
I started JZ Social Enterprises, LLC originally as a PR company that offered PR services from social media management to media placements in addition to launching a podcast. I started my own podcast as a reliable cost effective outlet for my clients who didn’t have the connects to the well known companies.
I have mainly been a one woman show the past two and a half years. I have grown substantially since I launched and since then have launched my own magazine with 3-6 regular contributors and some fabulous sponsors from Dunkin Donuts, Hint Water, Tesoro Boston (private jewelers) to name a few. With my event planning background, I started to showcase my clients as well as up and coming talent/entrepreneurs through fashion shows, pop up events, launch parties and networking events to name a few. We are very excited to have Belvedere Vodka join on our board as well supporting our brand.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
I am always looking for new products, entrepreneurs, designers, musicians etc. to showcase! We are offering a special to Lady Boss Blogger readers to get our magazines for $5.99 vs. $6.99 to get a copy of our magazine in PRINT! We also have a special for our hats $18 vs. $20 with shipping included! (pictures below)

Since I have grown substantially in a short period of time, I am starting to teach classes on all I have taught myself! From learning how to podcast to creating my own magazine and social media strategy. I am really looking forward to teaching my talents at the end of April!
Where is your business based?
Based in Boston, Massachusetts but work with clients nationwide and internationally.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
Do your research! Test out a few different things to truly find what is going to bring you the most satisfaction and then money will come!
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
SOCIAL MEDIA and going out and NETWORKING weekly!
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Biggest challenges thus far was relocating to a new city and meeting new people. The first year was super tough, but I really pushed myself and it has been the best decision I ever made. 2 years later, I now have some great friends, fabulous clients and a sustainable business!
How did you overcome these challenges?
Answered in one above!
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
- READ MANTRAS
- Meditate
- Buy Crystals
- Go for a walk by the water
- Healing things keep you strong through difficult times
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
Being reliable. Whatever I state I am going to do I do and if I can’t deliver it, I will be honest with you from the get go and give you a referral.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Step outside your comfort zone, you never know where it will lead you.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
DON’T PROMISE THINGS YOU CAN’T DELIVER. Some of your biggest fears will completely change your life for the better when you take the LEAP and challenge your fears.
What is your favorite business tool or resource?
Depending on what business we are talking about, I think in terms of meeting people you don’t know and joining social media groups. Join groups of your interest – you never know who you are going to meet and who they know!
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
I love watching “insider” videos because they showcase so many unique topics that you would never know about otherwise which is exactly along the lines of what I want my brand to represent, the unknown and making it known!
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
My next challenge is public speaking and teaching to large crowds what I have taught herself!
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
Goal is to hire an assistant/intern more regularly, and continue to grow in the face of the public eye nationwide to internationally! We have come so far in two and half years and we can’t wait to see what the next year has in store for us!
