What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?

Well, a lot of things really! I originally started my blog because I LOVE to write! Everything that branched off of my blog all came from the love of writing!

I also love to help people. I love being able to showcase people and their businesses in a positive light. That can be hard to come by.

Where is your business based?

We are located in Detroit, MI. However, we travel all over!

What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?

  1. One of the first steps I took was to do a LOT of research.
  2. I read about finding and understanding my niche.
  3. I also did a LOT of networking and building relationships!

What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?

I attended (and still do) a lot of networking events. Not just within the state but also in different states.

What have been your biggest challenges so far?

My biggest challenge when I first started out was being compared to other blog sites. A lot of people assume that when you say blog, it will be a gossip column.

How did you overcome these challenges?

I stayed true to who I was. It took a couple tries to get people to respect the fact that I am a positive outlet for people to showcase their work.

How do you keep motivated through difficult times?

The thought of building a legacy and something to leave my family. I also pray a lot and know that what is for me will ALWAYS be for me.

How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?

I have distinguished myself by staying positive and focusing on creating avenues for other people who love to build and network!

What is the best advice you have received recently?

The best advice that I received was that I can’t help everyone. I really try and help people achieve their goals, so I had to realize that sometimes people, no matter how much you care, don’t want to be helped.

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

I would tell them to stay true to who they are. I think it is one of the most important things that you can do. People will continue to try to distract you, sway you, or stop you. You’re on your journey for a reason!

What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?

I have a lot of resources and tools that I rely on. My new favorite one that provides me with a clean consistent look for my promotion is Canva. It’s an amazing marketing tool that can create so many templates to use.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?

Ooooh that’s a tough one! Lately, I haven’t read as much as I would like. I would have to say that my most recent read has been from inspirational books.

What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?

I am currently creating a positive platform for people to showcase themselves as well as their talent. I am building a network of different platforms and partnering with individuals in the field of media and marketing.

What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?

The next few months will be a challenge for me. I’ve begun taping my new show “Brunch With Bunnie”. I have been working really hard to prepare great content for my viewers.
