Olive Louise Social is a team of 7 passionate women, mostly mothers. We work with other like-minded business people to grow their businesses through all things digital and understanding the art of what makes people buy. We specialize in creating sales funnels through paid advertising. We love what we do and work hard to be great at it!
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
The directors, Sherstin and Jess are best friends. They had a range of skills from previous career paths that they combined to start their own business because they got tired of having to choose between their career and their kids.
Tell us about your business.
We specialize in creating sales funnels through paid advertising that is supported with conversion, trust building content, and having a strategy in place that grows return customers and with that, a higher average sale and items per sale.
We work with every industry you can imagine but love food, fashion, kids and anything pretty to look at! It took us 2 years to develop this strategy and we are so proud of its results.
Where is your business based?
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
Research and trialing! With every person with a Facebook page calling themselves a digital marketer, we knew our competitive nature would not let us go at it half-hearted. We trialed every strategy and method that existed to educate ourselves as what works.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Social media of course! #wemaybebias. But referrals are the strongest stream of prospects. We build long-term relationships with our clients to ensure results and we are thankful for them constantly sprucing our services.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Oh wow, where to start! Social media is a cruel ever-changing beast. We offer no upfront payments or lock-in contracts, so if our results slip, so do our clients! Keeping on top of our results despite whatever Mr. Zuckerburg has decided to do is definitely our biggest challenge.
How did you overcome these challenges?
We learned very quickly that one person could not become an expert in all things digital and decided to hire and divide our business so that amongst the 7 of us we have someone dedicated to one aspect to really master that field. A big risk that luckily paid off but at the time it was terrifying!
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
Simple, people. Our team is incredible. Not only do we work together, we do life together and it is amazing to have not only the constant support but people who push you to be better. Also our clients, we would do anything to make their businesses rock!
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
There is very little we do by the book compared to what they say to do. We care about one thing and one thing only, revenue for your business and creating trusting client relationships. Many marketers out there talk about “doing social media” and “building a community.”
We call #bullsh*t. You need to identify what type of businesses you are talking to, the strategy is very different depending on the size of the businesses. Social media is marketing and needs to understand how and why people buy, not how many likes and comments you get.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Celebrate yourself! When you work for yourself there is no boss to give you a high five or make you feel accomplished. And all you are thinking about is how to push your business to the next level. Stop and celebrate what you have achieved.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Funnily enough, my advice would be, don’t listen to too much advice! When starting a business everyone thinks they are an expert, and yes sometimes guidance is needed, but don’t forget your gut! Listen to it, it is generally always right!
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
Networking events! We love them and there are so many great resources available. Get out there and meet some other people going through the same journey as you.

Simon Sinek the golden circle. If anyone wants to understand the basics of why people buy and how to use this in marketing, this is where to start! #heisalegend
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
We are learning every day! We have just expanded our ads team and content creation team so our next project is expanding our website team to take on more and provide bigger and better things here!

What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
We smashed our last financial year’s goals so we will be taking some time to celebrate, brainstorm and reassess the new fin year goals. Dare I say a team holiday is on the cards?
