Taneshia Yerby, the founder of Undefined Grace, has always had a passion for motivating others to follow their dreams. In 2017 this wife and mama set out to change the world, one inspirational message at a time.
Her ability to motivate you and set a fire under your passions is truly unmatched. Love it or hate it, she’s going to push you to achieve your greatest.
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I started my business because I honestly have a passion for motivating people to follow their dreams.
Often times you come across people with great ideas and visions that they never act on because of lack of motivation (or support). I’m just here to bridge that gap.
Tell us about your business.
Undefined Grace is a motivational brand that’s primary focus is to encourage people to follow their dreams. We do this through our blog and social media platforms.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
I would love to host a giveaway for one of your followers!
List awards/certifications/accomplishments.
This is a new business, just formed in 2018. As of now, there are no awards but we are expecting big things in the next year!
Where is your business based?
Washington, DC.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
The first steps to starting my business were writing a business plan and my vision. For me, they serve as a guide and keep me focused on my goals.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Social media! I can’t stress this enough. Most of my traffic has come from Instagram and Facebook. Also, word of mouth is also a tremendous way to grow your business.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
I wouldn’t say I’ve had any “challenges” per say but I’ve had opportunities come up that have pushed me to think outside of the box to get different results.
Whether it’s growing my following, working with vendors or structuring my website. Each of these categories has pushed me to think for myself and become more creative.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I am overcoming these obstacles by researching and doing the dirty work.
I mean, if I can be honest, no one ones to spend an entire day on google researching SEO optimization, but if that’s what it takes, that’s what it takes!
After all, this is a motivational brand; I can’t push others to keep pushing through if I’m not willing to do it myself.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I re-read my quotes! Sounds crazy right? But my quotes are not only to inspire those around me but myself as well.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
I run my business as a person, not an organization. I think people connect with realness more than anything.
Also, I am not a life coach! Most people that are in my market are trying to sell a “motivational service”.
I’m not here to sell you a dream, I’m here to inspire the one you already have.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
“If you want something you’ve never had, you must be willing to do something you’ve never done.”
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Push past the numbers! Numbers is the one thing that holds many of us back.
Whether it’s not enough clients, not enough sales or not enough leads, we get caught up in the numbers and allow that to put a hold on our progress. We start focusing our energy elsewhere.
My advice: push through the numbers. The numbers will change. They always do.
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
Google, Pinterest, YouTube. So much FREE information on these sites. Anything that you need to know can most likely be found on one of these platforms.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
Steve Harvey’s Jump: Take the Leap of Faith to Achieve Your Life of Abundance. It’s a fantastic read about taking a leap of faith to follow your dreams. Highly recommend it!
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I am currently working on a podcast and possibly an app for the future. I’m really a DIY girl. I feel accomplished when I’ve poured my time into a project and then it all comes together!
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
My goals for the next few months are continuing to grow my following, develop great content, and roll out the Undefined Grace podcast! Slow and steady wins the race!
