What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?

Since a child I’ve always felt fulfilment from sharing good things. I graduated from University of Maryland Eastern Shore with a Bachelors in Fashion Merchandising. Naturally the beauty industry goes hand in hand. Makeup artistry recently sparked my interest. Witnessing local makeup artist start from a self-taught status and thrive beyond social media inspired me to do the same. I love sharing my new skill!

Tell us about your business.

#BeautyByBrittC is currently a freelance makeup service. I strive to make every experience exclusive. With each client I offer more than just makeup application. I advise skin care regimen, skin type, problem areas, favorite beauty items, and even gift them with a few samples of my favorite products I use on a daily basis.

Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?

Currently I am offering discounted services for client referrals.

Where is your business based?

I am located in the Metropolitan area of Camp Springs, MD, however I am willing to travel to wherever I am needed.

What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?

I completed the Tier 1 Makeup Artistry course offered at Graham Webb Academy in Arlington, VA. There I learned the proper professional and sanitation techniques exclusive to the field. While attending Graham Webb Academy it was there I discovered a definite passion for makeup. After graduating I decided, “Why not start a business doing what I love?”

How do you keep motivated through difficult times?

I reflect on my past and compare to the present. I acknowledge my growth and look forward to the future.

How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?

Anyone can apply makeup but my experience is unique. I care about the memory created with each client I work with.

Be fearless and allow your confidence in your ability to shine.

Don’t think about it too much, just do it. Be your own cheerleader first and the crowd will follow.
