I am a mom of three and married to my high school sweet heart. I have worked for other people for 20 years, so when and the opportunity to work for myself was presented to me, I jumped at it! I wanted to be there for my children during every milestone and that includes having a flexible schedule.
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
Staying home with my kids was my main motivation to starting my own business. I believe that no matter what age they are, they still need to come home to their mom.
Tell us about your business.
I sell LuLaRoe which is an awesome clothing line that is geared towards women and children, but we don’t leave the guys out. We have shirts, skirts, dresses and so much more.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
All new customers during the month of November and December will be entered into a drawing to win a free pair of leggings! Also my holiday promos are going to be awesome. I am gathering my black list for the awesome release of the Noir Collect line – that is right, everything in black.
Where is your business based?
My business is a home-based business in Tinley Park, IL. I sell on Facebook and will also travel to your home if its within 50 miles of my location.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
- I filled out the contract to get in the que
- While in the que, I started purchasing the items I would need to make a boutique in my home
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
The most effective way has really been getting out there and talking to people. Letting them know I am genuine and want every person regardless of their size to feel awesome in their own skin.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
My biggest challenge has been juggling my time. I work a full time job and own 3 companies and LuLaRoe is something I do on my own with the help of my husband, kids and friends – but most of the work is done solely by me.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I realized that it is ok to ask for help and to be real with my VIP (customers) so that they know what is going on and that I love them even when running around like a crazy person.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I keep motivated by the women who tell me how beautiful they feel in the clothes they buy from me.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
I don’t really consider anyone else who sells LuLaRoe a competitor because we all sell the same awesome clothing, we just have different prints.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
The best advice I have received recently was to just breathe. Sometimes I am so overwhelmed with the fear of disappointing my VIPS, but I have had to learn to be real with them and know that they understand that we are all human.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
My advice is to breathe and stay organized. Have a planner to know where and what you should be doing. Even with the best of memories, something might get missed. I write everything down in steps so I know what is going on. Stay organized and be honest.
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
My favorite business tool is my upline, she is awesome and helps me think things through when I feel like I am having a bad day. She is always there to cheer me on when things are going good as well!
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
I haven’t really had time to read lately so I can’t really answer this question!
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I am constantly learning about my business, which makes it awesome to be part of this awesome company. It has brought a side out in me that I love and I know people around me love it as well.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
My goal for the next few months is to get out and meet new people. I think it is important to meet new people in my business, everyone deserves to be pretty.
