Andreea Glodea Paleologu is a Romanian entrepreneur with over 15 years experience in publishing, marketing, and PR. She developed content & branding campaigns for top international publications such as Forbes and OK! Magazine.
She’s also created lead content teams for press trusts such as Ringier AG and conducted branding and marketing campaigns for e-commerce worldwide relays such as BIBLOO, Glami, and Stilago. Over the past two years, she has developed her own SEE MarCom boutique agency, Sag Media Communications.
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
Sag Media Communications is a labor of love and a continuation of my career development. I started off as a content publisher and went on to conduct public relations & branding campaigns, slowly but surely migrating towards online marketing. I believe that over this course I mastered all the necessary tools to be my own boss and to be able to steer other passionate, independent, and professional individuals to come along for the ride!
Tell us about your business.
My SEE MarCom agency—Sag Media Communications—was sparked as an idea in 2011. I started dedicating my full energy to it two years ago. I had concluded a series of corporate experiences that motivated me to go down further the entrepreneurial lane.
Most recently, I was awarded a certificate of recognition by AmCham—the Romanian-American bilateral chamber of commerce for the online marketing & PR seminars I held for their members. Moreover, my agency is a certified member of BRCC, the British-Romanian Chamber of Commerce.
Another notable accomplishments worth mentioning is conducting the launch & PR campaign for a unique diabetes prevention program for children in our country, “înCerc” program, based on a program developed by Polish Gdansk University specialists. Also, the launch and continuation of local operations and promotion for InspiGroup, a top CEE&SEE e-commerce group.
We have also recently become the online marketing agency for the local subsidiary of Lapp Group, an industrial tycoon, with about 40 sales companies, 17 production sites, and approximately 100 national partners worldwide.
Where is your business based?
Sag Media Communications is based in Bucharest and Timisoara, Romania and have partners in major SEE countries.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
The first significant step was to set up the team and then to extend the client list. We are a boutique agency with encouraging results for the last two years of activity, due to the fact that our team did not lose sight of our USPs—dedicated and integrated strategies delivered to businesses and individuals who are just as passionate about what they do as we are.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
We became known through a smart content marketing strategy, holding business-to-business, as well as business-to-consumer how-to seminars, as well as smart PR through social media and other online promotion outlets.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
The biggest challenge was mastering the workflow surplus coming in, due to flash-type projects.
How did you overcome these challenges?
The agency managed to deter these challenges though efficient planning and prioritizing tasks masterfully.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I remember that I do what I love, that I basically water the seed that I planted, and that I’m responsible for keeping the sun coming in even throughout cloudier days.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
Through the concept of boutique, all-hands-on-deck agency, through being in the know about smart digital solutions, through introducing our clients to innovative integrated strategies that help channel their message, their brand, and their offers to their specific audiences.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Put yourself in your conversation partner’s shoes, and try to see beyond the hardest façade.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Find your niche, and exploit it to the best of your abilities! Let your niche become your middle name!
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
My Google Calendar is always on and all my e-mails are administered through Gmail interface. In our agency, we use social media dashboards to deal with the workload in this department and centralize all our info and communicate via and through Google Sheets and dedicated Drives. We also use cloud-based team collaboration tools and services.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
Recently, I delved into the trends in teleworking, a trend that I would like to be a part of promoting in SEE.
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
We are developing a strong and integrated content department, as most of our existing, as well as new clients are focused on such strategies.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
We are currently focusing on expanding operations in major cities in our country, as well as neighboring countries. We are in talks of partnerships as well, but that’s a story for a future interview!
