What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I am a single mom of the most amazing little human and I honestly don’t want to miss out on being present in his life. I started my own business so that I can work on my terms and truly enjoy my years that I get to raise my son.
Tell us about your business.
I am a transformation coach working with women who have gone through a divorce or a break up and are ready to move on and let go. I do one-on-one coaching and also have an online group coaching program. I use a variety of modalities with clients including life coaching, fitness, health coaching, and spirituality. I believe that bringing these modalities together into a mind body soul method for healing sets my clients up for success in achieving their goals.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
I currently have a FREE training for women who have reached the point where they have grieved and are now ready to take back their life.
List awards/certifications/accomplishments.
I received a Masters in Clinical Social Work from NYU, a Life Coaching Certification from Bennet Stellar University, a Yoga Teacher Certification from YogaWorks, and a Personal Training Certificate from NASM.
Where is your business based?
I live in NYC, but since I work mostly online and over the phone, my clients can be based anywhere in the world.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
I found a coach and a mastermind!! I long ago learned that when beginning a new endeavor, the absolute most important thing to do is to find someone who is an expert at that endeavor and learn from them. I also have learned how important it is to have peer support, especially as an entrepreneur working from home. The people in my mastermind help support me and move me forward when I am struggling.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
I created a Facebook Group for women who are feeling stuck after having gone through a divorce or break up. This group has grown very rapidly and has become a beautiful, inspiring, and supportive community. I use Facebook Ads to reach people who would benefit from the group. I am available for free breakthrough calls for anyone, group members included, and if it is a good fit, will enroll clients into one-on-one or group programs.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
I will admit that I am definitely not the most adept person when it comes to tech and so, learning the back end of building a business has been both a challenge and a huge area of growth for me. I imagine that much of what I have created could have been done more quickly if I were more tech savvy, but I am okay with that. At the end of the day, it may have taken me longer, but I can look at it and know it is my creation and I learned along the way.
How did you overcome these challenges?
Support from mentors and peers, patience with myself, giving up my perfectionism, and consistent action, even when that action was messy and incorrect. What I have learned is the best way to overcome challenges is by doing; trying new things, making mistakes, and figuring out the answers.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I have a daily routine of rituals that I do not falter from. Mindset is the most essential component to anything you do and so I make sure to attend to my mindset in a consistent way on a daily basis. I meditate, visualize, exercise, eat well, journal, and take conscious care of myself every day. These are absolutely non-negotiable for me.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
I think I have a very unique method toward healing in that I understand the way fitness, health, and mind/spirit come together to create effective and lasting changes. Being able to rely on a variety of modalities to get results is very empowering for clients and exciting for me.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
That it doesn’t all have to happen at once. I can sometimes be hard on myself and want to have everything done yesterday. Obviously, this is impossible and adds unnecessary stress when I am in this mode. Being reminded that there is a process that is unique to each person and to trust in that process unfolding has been powerful wisdom that I carry with me daily.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Persistence! Don’t give up. If I am being honest, at least once every single day I doubt myself, think I am in way over my head, or consider quitting. I know that is just my fear coming up and so I respond with constructive questions and action. Once I find my groove back in my work, I immediately remember why I do what I do and how much I love it. Anything worth it is not going to come easy. It will take work, faith, and determination. Never give up!
What is your favorite business tool or resource?
My absolute favorite work tool is www.workflowy.com. It is a place where I can work on multiple courses, webinars, ideas, and articles at the same time. I have access to it on my phone and my lap top, which gives me the ability to work whenever I am feeling inspired. It truly changed my life when I was told about it.
