Nothing is worse than having a boring YouTube channel…
Here are 6 ways to keep your channel feeling fresh.
How To Keep Your YouTube Channel Interesting

1. Diversify Your Videos
Nobody wants to watch the exact same type of video over and over again. Having, say, 3 haul videos in a row feels repetitive for both you and your audience. Spice it up a little.
Don’t be afraid to try out a different type of video like a vlog or tutorial. Showing new content is always exciting and sparks you with creativity.
Create playlists for each section you create. For example, on the LadyBossBlogger Channel, we have a playlist for internship reviews, product reviews, and more.
2. Experiment With Your Thumbnails
Thumbnails can make or break the chances of your video being clicked on.
If you find you are not getting a lot of new viewers, try changing the layout or elements of your thumbnail.
This may seem like a small change, but the results can be HUGE.
Looking at the LadyBossBlogger YouTube channel (photo below) let’s compare two videos uploaded in the same month that are both about 1:40 in length:
- The video on the LEFT was uploaded with a thumbnail.
- The video on the RIGHT didn’t have a thumbnail when it was first uploaded.
- Look at the dramatic difference in views.
Granted, the topic is also different, however after a thumbnail was added to the video on the RIGHT, the views shot up!
Make sure you add text to your thumbnail that is big, blocky, and easy to read if you want MASSIVE results.
3. Have A Question As Your Title
This can be a fun one. Viewers love to find out an answer to a question they’ve always had or, sometimes, didn’t even KNOW they had.
Questions like “What happens when…” or “How does” or “How to” can also be great starters. But even indirect questions work as well such as “I tried ____ for a week” are equally intriguing.
Titles like this make the viewer want to click and find out the answer or what happens next. The title becomes a call to action that is irresistible.
Remember to add your question in both your HEADLINE + THUMBNAIL (example below)!
4. Keep Your Topics Current
There can be exceptions to this rule, but generally, people are most interested in what is fresh and current. So talking about an event or product that was new a month or two ago may not be your best bet for interest.
While it can be impossible to shoot, edit, and upload every day on the hottest news, keeping the content relevant to the week or month your making the video makes it easier.
Remember, you don’t have to be the first person talking about the latest in your niche.
A good way to ensure it’s a HOT TOPIC is if you’re speaking on a panel about it (example below – the LadyBossBlogger is in yellow!)
5. Collaborate With Others
Watching my favorite YouTuber have a guest on their channel is one of my absolute MOST favorite things. Having an extra person in a video draws so much intrigue.
Who is this guest, what are they going to talk about, what is this new person bringing to my usual YouTuber? These are all questions that lead to viewers clicking on your video.
They are also good questions to consider when deciding who to bring on your channel.
Example below: Elaine Rau as a guest speaker on another YouTube channel.
6. Allow Viewer Input
This idea may seem a bit daring, but allowing your viewers to vote and decide on what your next video should be about can give fascinating results. With this one, I wouldn’t recommend picking a one-off from the comments section as it may not represent you or what the rest of your viewers want to see.
Creating a poll would be the best way to go about this. Polling is especially effective when you have a couple new ideas floating around, but feel unsure which one you think your audience would find satisfying.
So take the guesswork out and ask!
Once you start making small changes with your YouTube channel, you will find all kinds of ways to ooze creativity and experimentation into your content.
After all, part of being an influencer is having creative control over your projects, so keep it engaging for you as well!
