Jessica Revell lives in Southend-on-Sea in Essex where she runs her business, We Fit Together. As a weight loss coach, Jessica works with moms and their families in their homes, helping them achieve their desired weight loss and body transformation, while simultaneously introducing healthy routines and nutrition to benefit the whole family.
Jessica developed her L.I.F.E. Fit program after struggling with her own weight throughout her teens and early adult life and after having her son, was tired of following the same trending weight loss tips. So she set about to create a program that delivered real weight loss results as well as increased health and well-being. After years of research and test groups, Jessica’s L.I.F.E. Fit program was created.
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
Having spent my life battling with my own fluctuating weight, I was becoming increasingly frustrated with the lack of honest, real solutions for the normal person living the normal life. Before I became a mom, I would spend my time jumping from one diet to the next without success and would go to the gym before and after work but not really see the kind of results I would have wanted to see for the effort I felt I was putting in.
After my son was born, I put on a lot of weight. But now with a baby, I couldn’t simply run off to the gym whenever I wanted to and starving myself with some new trending diet was not an option. As I spent my days between work, soft play centers and toddler groups I became aware of just how many other moms were fighting the same battles as me. This was all the motivation I needed to start, but my inspiration to continue and grow has come directly from the moms and families I have worked with and still work with.
Tell us about your business
I started my business with a handful of clients training locally in their homes. I called my business Belle Body when I started. I would be in my clients’ lounge or dining area, instructing and motivating them while rocking their babies off to sleep. I would help them with their meal plans for the family and as their babies turned to toddlers and children, they would join in with the exercises or stand next me and dance to the music. As time went on, I started working with families exclusively and decided to change the name of my business to We Fit Together to reflect the families that were getting fit together.
Through We Fit Together, I offer my L.I.F.E. Fit program exclusively to moms and their families within their own home. I also run weekly circuit training groups and periodically I will have a cooking workshop where children are welcome to come along and participate too. Through recommendations and success stories, I am now franchising the We Fit Together name and training other moms across the country to be able to offer the L.I.F.E. Fit program successfully within their own areas.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
My book L.I.F.E. Fit The Process has just been published and is available on Amazon and Kindle.
List awards/certifications/accomplishments
Publishing my book has been my biggest accomplishment. Being able to translate my L.I.F.E. Fit program into a book that is engaging, inspiring and most of all effective has been a challenge and I feel immensely honored to have it out there for all to benefit from.
Where is your business based?
We Fit Together is based in Southend on Sea in Essex, England. With franchisees being offered, We Fit Together will soon be countrywide.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
When I first started, I would spend my days walking from door to door delivering leaflets to advertise my services. There are A LOT of people offering personal training services and I had to try to get myself noticed amongst the noise. I knew my program was different from others because my offer was more family focused, working exclusively with moms in their own home on a program that would benefit their whole family. I just hoped my message translated well in my advertising.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
When I first started, I offered a six-week course training with me for 5 days a week for just £200 all-inclusive.
I was booked solid the entire time and although I was working for very little money, the amount of recommendations from this period secured my future bookings for a considerable time. 90% of my clients come to me through word of mouth and recommendations now.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Simply getting heard initially was the biggest challenge. Everywhere you look there is a personal trainer offering life changing body transformations, so trying to differentiate yourself from the crowd is challenging. I knew I had a message worth hearing so I persevered and I am so glad I did.
How did you overcome these challenges?
You can’t give up just because something proves challenging. If you believe in yourself and you believe in your product or message, you will also believe that you will be noticed if you keep going.
Everyday I would tell myself, “I haven’t come this far, to only come this far”.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
My clients keep me motivated.
- The thank you messages that I receive keep me going.
- Knowing that what I am doing is actually making a difference in people’s lives, physically and mentally.
- Every time a client tells me they have just bought a pair of jeans where they would have bought leggings before, or a dress a size smaller than they were.
- Every time I see my clients’ children eating an apple where before it might have been a packet of sweets.
My clients are my motivation and my inspiration.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
My L.I.F.E. Fit program is a complete weight loss and body toning program that was designed exclusively for busy moms.
This is the program that is successfully giving women the body and confidence that other programs have failed to deliver because this is a program that works seamlessly into real family life, without the need for drastic food changes or complicated meal plans.
L.I.F.E. Fit understands that as a parent your weight loss journey is not just about you anymore and that everything you do has to benefit your children too. L.I.F.E. Fit is designed to benefit the entire family. The L.I.F.E. Fit approach is built upon eating well, exercising right and being a great example to your children.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
If you get tired, learn to rest, not quit.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
- Believe in your product. Do not be ashamed to shout about what you are doing and shout about it wherever you can.
- Take yourself out of your comfort zone. Find business network groups in your area and approach them to see if you can present your business to their group.
- Just put yourself in front of as many people as you can – as often as you can.
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
I love business networking events. You get the opportunity to meet so many great people and hear their stories. Everyone is there to promote themselves and their business, so it makes it easy to promote your own. The contacts I have made at these events are priceless and the advice and guidance that everyone seems happy to give have helped me immensely.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
While I have been writing and editing my book, I haven’t really had the opportunity to read much recently. Now that my book is out, I am looking forward to reading a book called “Beautiful You”.
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
My next step is to get my book into as many hands as possible. I really want to empower moms everywhere with my program and with the message each reader will get from my book. On top of that, I will be rolling out franchise opportunities.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
My goals ongoing are to sell as many copies of my book as possible and to succeed in attracting potential franchisees.
This will be another learning curve for me. While marketing my book, I will be setting courses for potential franchisees to attend so that they can run their own L.I.F.E. Fit courses with confidence.
