Vacations are designed to help you get away from your normal routine. When vacationing, you want nothing more than to be able to explore something new, indulge in fun activities, and of course, get some much-needed rest and relaxation.

Managing a blog, however, is an ongoing task. Chances are, you’ll have to do some blogging, commenting, or updating while you’re on vacation.

Don’t let running your blog keep you from enjoying your vacation. To keep your readers happy while tending to your personal needs requires a bit of balance.

1. Schedule Posts in Advance

Before going on your vacation, it would be ideal to write and schedule content to post while you’re on vacation. This way, you don’t have to spend vacation hours at the keyboard trying to come up with compelling content.

Depending on your posting schedule and how long you’ll be gone, you could essentially write all of your content in advance so that all that’s left is to respond to reader’s comments.

You can also incorporate guest blog posts if you don’t have enough content of your own to upload until you get back from your trip.

2. Draft Topics and Outlines

If you’re a travel blogger, want to blog about your travel experience, or simply don’t have the time to complete enough posts to keep readers interested while you’re away, at the very least, you should draft topics and outlines in advance.

Coming up with blog topics is often one of the most challenging tasks of all, so getting this out of the way can shave a few hours off your blogging time while on vacation.

3. Consider Vlogging

If you’re not interested in going through the whole blog writing process while on vacation, there are other ways to develop killer content for your readers.

For example, you might consider doing a vlog instead. You can record yourself out and about on vacation or simply talk about a topic in your hotel room. Diverse content is often preferred by viewers anyway.

You may be surprised to learn that followers love watching you on camera more than they like reading your posts. A quick 5-10-minute vlog doesn’t take much to edit and can quickly be uploaded to your blog and shared on your social media platforms so you can get back to vacationing.

4. Keep a Recorder on You

Sometimes, being in a new environment can inspire new ideas for your blog. That’s why it’s a good idea to have a voice recorder with you during your travels.

This way, if something inspires you, you can simply record the idea and some key points without having to pull out the laptop and start typing. Then you can review your notes once you’re back in the hotel or vacation rental.

5. Work in the Morning or Evening

Don’t let blogging get in the way of your time basking in the sun by the shore, shopping in boutiques and popular malls, hiking through beautiful trails, your massage with CBD oil rub, or your night out on the town. You’ve likely been planning this vacation for months now and should enjoy every moment of it.

So, review your itinerary in advance and decide when the best time to blog is. Perhaps you could wake up an hour or so early in the morning and blog as you watch the sunrise or you can do some blogging in the evening before turning in for bed.

Everyone deserves the opportunity to break away from their daily norms and just have fun on vacation. Of course, you want nothing more than to be able to keep your audiences engaged with your blog while you’re away, but you can’t let the work get in the way of your trip.
