Do you have a hard time staying productive? Do you find yourself always feeling tired and unmotivated? Look no further. Here are 5 ways to get better sleep to be more productive.
1. Make a nighttime routine
The first step to help you get better sleep and be more productive is to make a nighttime routine. Having a routine keeps you on a schedule so you are making the most out of your time in the day. Work is stressful, but know when it is time to shut down your work brain and calm down your mind. Try writing out a basic, step-by-step night routine and see how the results improve your life. It doesn’t have to be anything crazy. Just writing down a list of things on a piece of paper or in the notes app on your phone will do just fine.
2. Meal prep for the day ahead
Secondly, you want to have a meal prep schedule for your week. I know it can appear overwhelming and like too much extra work, but the benefits of meal prepping are worth the little bit of extra time you will have to put in. Just think about it, when your body is happy, your mind is happy. Therefore, you want to fuel your body with nurturing food. Also, the less you have to worry about every day the more productive you can be at work and the more sleep you can get at night. Add it to your nighttime schedule. 3. Create a relaxing environment
My next suggestion for you is to create a relaxing environment. Having a relaxing space at night will help you to get better sleep. Something that helps make your nighttime space more relaxing is having a comfortable place to sleep. Furthermore, it is a worthwhile investment to find a split king mattress that works for your body’s individualized needs. The Sleep Foundation tells us that good sleep is necessary for both the mind and body to recharge for the next day. Sleep is not something you should compromise on because, without a good night’s sleep, it is difficult to be productive throughout the day.
4. Get off your electronics
This tip may seem like a bit of an obvious one, but I cannot stress its importance enough. If you are someone who has a difficult time falling asleep, reducing your screen time at night could be exactly what you need. You need to give your mind the time it needs to properly calm down before sleep. So, instead of hopping on your phone tonight maybe try reading, listening to podcasts, or meditating instead.
5. Find what works for you
Even after everything I have shared with you, you know yourself best. This is to say take the suggestions that resonate with and works for you. Step one in completing any healthy lifestyle change is to listen to your body. Make sure to check in with yourself and see what your individual needs are. Maybe you are tired and feeling unproductive because you put too much on your plate, or maybe it is because you have trouble staying motivated. Everything I listed above is a good starting point to jump off of but they are not one-size-fits-all. Ask your body: What are you needing? And get started on a happier and healthier lifestyle.
To conclude
If you are looking to be more productive, adjusting your sleep routine is the place to start. No more feeling tired and lifeless throughout the day. Start feeling your best so that you can be your best version of yourself. You can do it!
