In the midst of your transition from employee to entrepreneur here is the question you should continuously be asking yourself: ARE YOU EXCITED OR OVERWHELMED?

Many times we simply don’t know where to start. Whether we recently made the decision to begin building a business or whether we started a year ago and are feeling stuck.

Either way, its about figuring out where to start to begin to put the pieces together. When attempting to build a strategy for what to do next, there are some key questions you should ask yourself.

Here are 5 things to consider as you begin to build or rebuild:

What was your reason for starting the business?

Be honest with yourself.

  • Was it because you wanted more freedom to travel?
  • Was it because you wanted more income?
  • Was it because you felt unfulfilled?

Identify your most important reasons in order of importance.

Are you getting what you wanted?

Whatever your reason for starting the business – are you reaping those benefits?

If you are not then that’s a sure sign that you need to do something differently in how you manage your business.

What’s your greatest challenge?

Now you must look at what’s not working. Look at where you spend most of your time as it relates to your business.

  • Where are you not seeing a return on your investment?
  • Where are you not spending very much time?
  • What aspect of your business is the least enjoyable?

How do you solve your problem?

Perhaps you’ve identified a list of issues. Identify which are the most important.

  • Where can you go to get help to solve that problem?
  • If it just involves you when can you schedule the time to deal with the problem?
  • What do you need to begin solving the problem?

What can you do until the problem is solved?

Sometimes we won’t be able to solve a problem right away. Maybe we have to wait a couple weeks to get a meeting with the person who can help us. Maybe we have to earn more money. Whatever the reason it’s important to look at how we can relax and take the pressure off until the problem is solved.
