Rolanda Smith specializes in gourmet apples and an array of delicious, decorative treats. She believes that creating something truly luxurious, indulgent and uniquely pleasurable is both an art and a craft. An art because it takes vision, imagination and genuine originality. A craft because it demands exceptional skill, a desire for perfection, and meticulous attention to detail. She ensures, at her company FabuSweetz, that there will be a hint of elegance with a dash of succulent pleasure in every bite!
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired when my sister asked if we could do candy apples for the kids on Halloween.
Tell us about your business.
I have been in business for just about two years and it has been a blessing for myself as well as my clients. I create custom apples and other desserts. I also do dessert tables.

What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
I did a lot of research, read a lot about my competition and other people I admired who were in business already.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
I am a Facebook Queen! That is where I spend most of my time building connections and generating leads.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Prepping my orders!
How did you overcome these challenges?
Still working on the best way to overcome my obstacles.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I pray and listen to the Gospel!
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
I let my work do the talking for me!
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Keep pushing and pray that you’re going to go far!
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Stay focused. Don’t worry about your competition… let them worry about you!

Facebook is where I post and get all my customers.

What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I’m learning that there’s always something new to learn. Sometimes I wish I had a partner to help me!
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
My goals are to be better than i was a day or month ago and to to open my own candy store!
