What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I have always wanted to be a business owner since I was little. When I began my journey, it wasn’t about the business, but about taking control of my health. I have since lost over 50 lbs and I couldn’t have done it with out the support and encouragement of my YL community.
I have truly found my purpose with Young Living and I get to share from a place of inspiration while teaching others about nature’s living energy simply by being a part of a community of health and wellness. To see Young Living essential oils in every home while living my life by design and experiencing the benefits of financial freedom is my “why”!
Tell us about your business.
I am a Health & Wellness Essential Oils educator pursing my purpose to inspire women around the world to embrace their bodies, elevate their mind, and regain spirituality through the use of essential oils. We are a team of amazing and inspirational women, and men, coming together to teach women how to be entrepreneurs and maintain a healthy family balance while growing a home based business! Did you know that 80% of women who make 6-figures do it with a home-based business? Young Living has some of the top-earning women in business and I couldn’t be more proud to know them.

Where is your business based?
Young Living is headquartered in Lehi, Utah. My personal business is based where I reside, currently in Burbank, CA. My team is based all over the US.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
The first step was realizing I needed to gain control of my health and eliminate all of the toxic chemicals in my home. I did a complete overhaul of my home starting with cleaning products, personal care products and our kitchen pantry. When I made this shift, everything in my life changed.
In 2014, I was approached about essential oils from an acquaintance. She spent so much time explaining essential oils and the benefits she had experienced in the short time she had incorporated them into her life. I just couldn’t say no and joined right away with the Premium Starter Kit. That acquaintance is now one of my best friends. I will forever be grateful for her!
When I joined that day I had no idea I was actually taking the first step in starting my own business! Quite a revelation when the next conversation was, can I do what she did with someone else? Of course I said yes and with over 35 families on my team I am so glad my business is up and running, and growing!
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
- Social media has been a blessing. I have had the absolute pleasure to connect with so many GREAT people online. Some whom own their own business, and others that are searching for a way.
- Word-of-mouth by connecting with my community.
- My team is constantly growing with believers and business builders and I know social media is key to exponential growth.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
- Mastering social media to grow my business online.
- Finding the balance between Young Living and my full-time corporate job.
- Growing repeat customers that use YL’s lifestyle products every day. Not just a one-time customer, but a life time customer.
How did you overcome these challenges?
A few months ago I invested in an Instagram 101 – a 10 day event that completely changed the way I look at social media and how I can use it to further my brand and exposure. Connecting with Elaine Rau of LadyBossBlogger is one way I’m overcoming this challenge!
Planning out my days helps me dedicate time to balancing the needs of YL and my full time job. I know how important it is for me to give as much of my time to my own business.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
Meditation with essential oils. This practice keeps me completely centered and allows me to clear my head. Staying on plan helps me too.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
To be honest, being ME. There is not one person out there like me. Just like there is no one out there like YOU. I truly believe that we all have our own GREATNESS inside. I am different from my competitors because I am ME.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Oooh! I was recently in a conversation with someone and it came up that we create our own boundaries (mentally & emotionally) and that is why we never truly move past our excuses. In a nutshell, “Every reason why you think you can’t is why you should!” And so, removing the mental boundaries allows for growth to happen.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
KEEP GOING! Even when the momentum has come to a halt, KEEP GOING. Don’t give up!
I’ve been listening to some amazing podcasts that have been super influential, so the other part of my advice would be to seek out resources that can expand your thinking and change your actions to better achieve your goals.
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
The High Achiever’s Playbook is a must have for planning and organizing. One of my favorite essential oil books is the Reference Guide for Essential Oils, as it walks you through essential oils and the body, as well as some great tips for using them to support your health. I use it for my own self-benefits but I think it’s a great tool for learning about Vitaflex points and Chakra’s.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
I highly recommend the following books:
- “Getting Noticed” by Lindsay Teague Moreno
- “Game Plan” by Sarah Harnisch
- “Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action” by Simon Sinek
All are amazing reads! I also indulge in some great listening, too. Check out Lewis Howe’s podcast “The School of Greatness” and his book with the same name, “The Life Coach School” with Brook Castillo and “Becoming Superhuman” with Jonathan Levi.
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I am currently learning how to maximize social media for business growth. I’d be willing to accept help or collaboration in this area.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
I have big goals to grow my down-line team by 100 families in the next 6 months. My Dream Team organization currently has over 10,000 families and my goal is to change lives one drop of oil at a time. I am staying bizzy with purpose and I have my eye on the prize: Health, Wellness, and Abundance!
