Lindsey DeBruler Heals Bodies With Lifestyle And Behavior Modifications

Lindsey DeBruler is an inspiring health and wellness coach and is certified as a Functional Diagnostic Nutrition® (FDN) Practitioner. She works with people that are struggling with low energy, digestive issues, and hormonal imbalances. She takes clients on a journey to healing by restoring the body back to life with lifestyle and behavior modifications. Lindsey’s goal is to help people change their lives for good, feel like themselves again, be symptom free and ultimately achieve optimal wellness! Read our interview with the lovely Lindsey below…

What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?

My own personal health struggles ultimately served as the biggest motivator in starting a health-centered business. After working nightshift as a nurse in the hospital for over two years, I started feeling really sick. I was dealing with horrible abdominal pain and bloating, I was tired all the time, I was loosing the motivation to perform my job well and I was starting to feel depressed.

After battling with a myriad of health issues and spending thousands of dollars on finding the right doctor, I finally found my answer. I learned that I had a severe case of SIBO (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis, reactivation of Epstein-Barr virus, complete dysfunction and exhaustion of my adrenal glands and many hormonal imbalances. I was a mess! But I was motivated and desperate to feel better.

My journey back to health was not an immediate one. I scoured the internet reading everything I could find, but grew very frustrated with the discrepancies in both diagnosis and treatment plans. I had already perfected a gluten and dairy free diet, which improved my health significantly, but the long-standing issues remained.

When I found the FDN program, everything changed. What I have learned along the way is in order to live symptom free and enjoy life to the fullest we must make changes that stay with us for the rest of our lives. You can’t expect to change something for a few weeks or months and then just go back to doing what you were before and expect the same results. The solution is to change your lifestyle. I teach my clients that lifestyle changes are not only easy to do, but something they want to stick with because they feel so good!

I started Optimal Wellness because I wanted to help other people avoid the years of agony I experienced. Millions of people suffer every day from conditions that go undiagnosed through traditional medical doctors who are primarily trained to treat symptoms rather than address root causes. My top priority is to actually listen to my clients (crazy, right?!) and help provide a shortcut to an optimal life. I don’t want anyone to suffer for years on end unnecessarily as I did.

Tell us about your business. 

Optimal Wellness is a health-coaching consultancy focused on people who struggle with low energy, digestive issues, and hormonal imbalances. It’s all about finding your missing links, which are problems in the body causing Metabolic Chaos™.  I use functional lab tests to help detect any hidden internal stressors. I then help people achieve an optimal state of wellness by using the unique D.R.E.S.S for Health Success® Protocol. The D.R.E.S.S Protocol stands for Diet, Rest, Exercise, Stress, and Supplementation. This protocol implements self healing models that lead to life long diet changes, deeper sleep, an understanding of proper exercise, stress reduction and supplements that help support and bring the body back to vitality.

I have my Bachelors of Science in nursing from the University of South Florida and I currently hold a registered nurse license in the state of Florida. I recently finished my certification with FDN in early March.

Where is your business based?

My business is based in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida. I also provide health coaching online through Skype, ZOOM, and FaceTime so I can work with clients all around the world!

What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?

Once I finished my certification with FDN, it was all about the website for me. Social media marketing is in the works and that is a continuous journey.

What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?

Social media for sure! Since everyone is always online, it really is the best platform to use.

What have been your biggest challenges so far?

Showing people that I’m different than just any health coach and getting myself out there. In this world it’s definitely a challenge to get noticed and to be seen. But I’m excited to see how quickly my business has grown.

How did you overcome these challenges?

I am still working on it! Social media marketing helps a ton! And having clients write testimonials… those are huge for me. I want people to hear how I have helped and changed the lives of others!

How do you keep motivated through difficult times?

I practice yoga, meditation, gratitude, and self-love every day. Yoga gives me time to reflect and feel gratitude. It’s a time just for myself where I can be alone with my thoughts and focus on my breath.

How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?

I distinguish myself from other health coaches by continually learning and researching various health issues. I pride myself in staying current on the latest research. I also provide my email and mobile number so my clients can get ahold of me quickly for immediate feedback when making decisions about what groceries to buy or anything else.

What is the best advice you have received recently?

Believe in yourself and be confident!

What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?

Don’t give up! This journey we are all on together is a long and twisty path and there may be bumps along the way. But the journey is the best part! Keep going, keep trying, and never stop!

What is your favorite business tool or resource?

Books and podcasts have been very helpful for me. I read a lot of Tim Ferriss and Gary Vaynerchuk to learn about running a successful business.

I am just diving into “Tools of Titans” by Tim Ferriss.

What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?

I am always learning! That is the beauty of having your own business! I am learning all about lead pages and how to effectively market on social media.

What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?

My goal for the next few months is to add another 20 clients. I want to reach more people and show them the way to a healthier and more energized self!
