What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I was motivated and inspired to start lovelymissjones.com from my passion to help others. I knew that my writing was a gift that had gotten me through many situations, so I knew it could potentially benefit someone else. As long as I was able to relate and share my story, someone else could make positive changes in life.
Tell us about your business.
Lovely Miss Jones is now a blog that encourages, inspires, and motivates others towards positive change. We use our personal story, along with the story of others to push our audience towards greatness and success. We also do media coverage, as well as interviews, and reviews. There is always a story that can be taken away that someone can relate to. LMJ also loves to give someone an opportunity to reach a brand new audience with their business, book, music, or story. Anything that Lovely Miss Jones produces is in hopes to benefit someone else.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?

Where is your business based?
We are based in the New York/New Jersey area.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
The first step was really just taking that leap of faith. Showcasing my writing and being vulnerable wasn’t something that came easy for me. I was shy and somewhat doubted myself. But it went until I realized that this was bigger than me, that I was able to just do it. Pushing my fears and insecurities to the side. Once you’re able to do that, you can go as far as you choose to go.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Social media is a tool that I use to get my website and writing out. It’s a huge platform and can be spread worldwide. It’s the most effective platform. Along with face to face contact, through various events. Making the right connections.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
My biggest challenge is really fear. Fear can literally paralyze you, and cause you to think you can’t make it to where you’re meant to go. Putting that to rest on a consistent basis can be a challenge. But a challenge I’m willing to take.
How did you overcome these challenges?
Overcoming this type of challenge comes from really knowing what you have and being confident in it. If God gave you a gift, believe that it’s bigger than your fears. It’s bigger than your insecurities. Then knowing your purpose, and who you’re meant to reach. I know writing isn’t all about just trying to get my name out and climb the ladder. I know that there are people who will depend on what I share to help turn their situation around.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
Number 1, my faith in God having that connection with God definitely helps reel me in when I get off track. Also, having a group of people around who genuinely care about me and believe in the gift that was placed inside of me.
How did you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
There are many writers, but I’ve just chosen to be myself. One of my favorite quotes is “always stay true to yourself.” This is really what I choose to live by. I share my own story and live in my own truth, and I honestly believe that this is the reason why my work is relatable and has had the effect on others that it did.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
The best advice that I’ve recently received was to believe in yourself. If you don’t believe in yourself, no one else will. You’ve been given what you’ve been given for a specific purpose, and you have to pour into others using the gift that God has given you.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
The best advice I can give is don’t compare yourself to others. Everyone’s journey is different, everyone’s life lesson is different. You don’t have to go the same route or at the same pace as someone else. You can do what you do, the way that you do it and still be just as effective. Just stay true to yourself, and stay in your own lane.
What is your favorite business tool or resource?
My favorite business tool is social media. You can connect with businesses and people you may have never been able to connect with on a regular basis. It’s a tool that can be fully used to your advantage, and take your business to the next level.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?
A good book that I’ve recently read is, “Embrace Your Greatness” by Dawn M. Harvey and the women of “Embrace Your Greatness”. This book is written by various women who have a different story of struggle. But in the end was able to find the greatness that was always living inside of them.
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I am currently learning to take my blog and make it a full business where we offer various services – all to benefit someone else.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
Over the next few months, LMJ plans to have a successful scholarship benefit event, helping college students with their college tuition, continuing to help others through our writing, along with adding the company under our belt. I plan to achieve these goals through faith. Making a plan in order to execute properly, and have the right people in place to ensure its success.
