What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I always knew I was meant to make a huge impact in the world and leave a legacy for the next generation to come, but didn’t know exactly how I was going to do that. My first “official” business was selling skincare for a network marketing company and from there I become interested in the coaching, motivational speaking, teaching and training world and the rest is history!
Tell us about your business.
I started a movement called The After 5 Club, which helps women entrepreneurs who still are in the 9 to 5, start and grow businesses on the side. The three main components that I teach and coach around are managing your mindset, maximizing your time and monetizing in your business. My business is mostly online, I coach privately one on one clients, host group coaching groups and also create live in person events/workshops. I also co-founded The Making Moves Podcast which is commuter candy for the 9 to 5’er/entrepreneur!
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?

Where is your business based?
The majority of my business is done online however I do host live events in NYC and I live in NJ.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
- Defining what I wanted to do and offer.
- Who I wanted to work with and serve.
- Reaching out to my family, friends and anyone I did business with to present them with an offer, tell them what I was up to and ask for their support in telling their networks!
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
The most effective way of raising awareness of my business and getting new clients is picking a strategy or two and consistently taking action everyday on that, so if it is posting on social media, taping video’s, writing blog posts or reaching out to x amount of people having a plan and working that plan has been my biggest secret success formula.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
I have had so many “big challenges” so far, some of them including being over $40K + in debt, landing in the hospital because of burnout, having horrible bosses, energy draining commutes, exhausting co-workers and bad work environments, getting my heart broken and losing loved ones. I believe we all have big challenges in our lives – the most important element is that we experience them and then they become our biggest teachers so that we can heal and help others who experience these similar challenges.
How did you overcome these challenges?
Faith. Friends. Figuring it out along the way and finding myself.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
Believing there is a higher power at work in my life and knowing that someone is struggling or is worse off than me.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
Being authentically me, people will be attracted to the real you!
What is the best advice you have received recently?
This too shall pass. (Patience is required).
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
No matter how hard it gets, never give up on your dreams.
What is your favorite business tool or resource?
Educational and inspirational YouTube videos and/or podcasts.
