Where is your business based?
I am currently located in sunny Melbourne, Florida.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
I started my business by first thinking about how I could help my clients. Once I knew the problem that needed to be solved, I created a service that addressed the problem.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
When I started my business I reached out to friends, family, and previous co-workers. I also networked locally to anyone who I thought might benefit from my services.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
I’ve learned as an entrepreneur there will always be challenges in business. With that said, one of the biggest challenges so far has been learning to enjoy the different stages of business.
During the startup stage, it was exciting to start something new and learn new things. After that initial stage, I was in the growth phase, which takes more patience as you wait to see all your hard work pay off.
How did you overcome these challenges?
During the growth phase, I went back to what initially inspired me to start my business. I went back to my “why.” Why I began this business in the first place. I read my old journals, saw what my goals were then and recalled how I’ve accomplished those goals. Now I incorporate them into my daily/weekly routine to keep myself motivated.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
My meditation and yoga practice helps me stay grounded and remember to be grateful for things that have gone right in my life.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
I strive to provide excellent customer service. I under promise and always over deliver. A great customer experience results in repeated customers and referrals.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Know your worth. When I first started my business I was reluctant to charge for my services. I would have a client come to me for one service, and before I knew it, I was giving advice/services for free. I learned from a mentor that there is value in my expertise.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Listen to your inner voice. Not many people will see your business goals as you envision them.
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
- Social Media: I focus on Instagram and LinkedIn.
- I use Quickbooks Online-QBO as the main Accounting Software.
- Zoom is my go-to for meetings and webinars.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne. Great read!
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
Marketing, which is a big part of the business.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
My next goal to launch my company globally. I strive to work with business owners around the world.
