Janae Martin’s life flashed before her eyes while in the middle of a car crash. During that instant she made a promise that if she survived, she would change her life around. Needless to say, she survived, and shortly after she set out to fulfill the promises she had made and settled on becoming a life purpose coach. Read our interview with the lovely Janae below…
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
Desire for a better and more purposeful life. After a near fatal car accident in 2005, I remember pleading with God as the car was flipping over and over – “if you get me through this I will live better, do better and live a purposeful life.” Needless to say I made it through. So there is a natural inspiration, desire and commitments to fulfill. I believe that this is my purpose and that in itself keeps me motivated and inspired.
Tell us about your business.
I am a life purpose coach (the perfect balance of life coaching and spiritual leadership). I help women achieve Authentic Success – so the external ‘stuff’ as well as internal peace, fulfillment and purpose. It’s a beautiful journey of spirituality, achieving goals, tapping into passion/purpose and helping others. I am in love with my business.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
I offer FREE 30 minute conversations for aspiring entrepreneurs who feel lost in what their purpose truly is. Sign up is available on my website or email me at info@janaemartin.com.
Where is your business based?
Atlanta, Georgia, however most of my coaching is virtual so business is global!
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
Perfecting my craft was first and foremost. I’ve always been naturally a coach, and a positive person who helped others with solutions in their lives, however I wanted to perfect my craft and make things official. I got certified as a life coach, read more books, watched more video trainings and audios than I care to admit lol and coached myself, coached people for free until I felt masterful at coaching. Then I handled the business side of things and lastly started marketing. The rest is history.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Being visible on social media and when I have a true authentic connection with someone I invite them on a call/personal conversation with me.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
My biggest challenge has been messaging and finding my people. It takes lots of trial and error to actually articulate the message in a way that attracts soulmate clients.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I keep pushing. Keep being authentic. Keep sharing my story. Keep sharing my testimonials. Keep sharing what my business is about in a soulful way. Until it clicks…
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
Hands down my spirituality. Staying connected to a power higher than me and the bigger purpose of my mission keeps me motivated.
How did you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
Just by being me. Sounds cliché (lol) but it is the truth. Yes there are a ton of life coaches and spiritual teachers out there, however none of them are Janae! I am the down to earth, relatable, hip-hop loving, soul seeking spiritual unique coach. I’ve had a rough background including depression, addictions, etc. There is no issue that my clients go through that I don’t understand and can’t help them with.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Serve from my overflow. Going into business is the best personal and spiritual development ever! The more I grow, the better service I can be of.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Connect to the soul, ultimate purpose and grand mission of your business. It’s bigger than any obstacle you could ever go through.
What is your favorite business tool or resource?
I’d say it’s a tie between Canva and Evernote. Canva helps me make pretty graphics for social media and Evernote keeps me and my ideas organized. I don’t know what I would do without these two.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?
Gabby Bernstein’s new book “The Universe Has Your Back” – it’s everything and yes the universe has your back!
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I am currently learning about Facebook and Instagram ads. I’ve ran ads in the past, however I’m looking to do it in a more major way and connect more with my audience. Dear my people, I’m coming for you <3
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
My goal is to fill my coaching practice, finish and present my second product. To fill my coaching practice I plan to continue doing what I’m doing and get even better at doing it by being visible online, sharing my teachings, helping women on their journey, inviting them on a free call/conversation and if it’s a perfect fit – I invite them to work with me. I’ve already drafted my second product and scheduled time in my calendar to record the audio’s, package it up, marketing, etc. I must add everything to my calendar so you know it’s real 😉 And once it’s in the calendar it gets done no question.
