I would have never guessed that Twitter would be my favorite app for making fast, genuine connections with other Bloggers, Influencers, and Entrepreneurs.
I went from a few hundred followers to 3,000+ in less than 2 years and it was all because of Twitter chats.
Here are some simple and effective ways you can build your brand by participating in Twitter chats.
1. Stand Out Immediately
Your introduction matters.
At the start of most Twitter chats, you are asked to introduce yourself.
This is a great opportunity to help other chatters get to know who you are and how they can connect with you.
Set up a short introduction that is a clear representation of who you are, what your brand is all about, and what you value.
Quick Tip: Copy and paste your introduction including social media links in your Notes in your phone or laptop so that you can access it quickly instead of typing it out repeatedly.
Here is the standard introduction that I provide when hosting and participating in Twitter chats:
Hello beautiful people. I am Ta'lor Pinkston, Self-love #coach, Lifestyle Blogger, and #momprenuer from Pittsburgh, PA. I believe in the power of self-love, women empowerment and Healing Over Everythingâ„¢. Connect with me on ladyhoodjourney.com.Click To Tweet2. Add Chats To Your Calendar
Most of the chats that I participate in are hosted by individuals who do not live in the same time zone that I do.
By adding chats to my notifications and my calendar, I am able to retweet the promotion before the chat begins, I can post my introduction first and be a real presence during the chat.
This gives you an upper-hand with the host and participants because they see you first and have an opportunity to connect with you before the other participants post their responses.
3. Follow The Rules
Every chat has a set of rules that the host would like everyone to follow.
Typical rules include using the hashtag every time you respond to a question and responding to questions using A1, A2, A3, etc. (A = answer).
By following the rules in any Twitter chat, you are more likely to get retweets from the host.
This will give you more engagement from the participants in the chat and could even bring more traffic to your page.
4. Be UniqueÂ
Twitter chats are fun but they can easily get redundant.
Everyone shares a response and the host chooses to retweet if they like your words.
Share images, GIFs, or links.
Stand out by being unique in your responses.
Quick Tip: Standing out does not mean go off-brand. Stay true to who you are. The more authentic and consistent you are, the more likely the other chatters will connect with you.Â
5. Respond To Participants
During Twitter chats many make the mistake of only responding to the question from the host.
Respond to as many participants in the chat as you can; ask questions, give advice and feedback beyond just answering the question.
This can help you make genuine connections with other participants which is most important in building a brand.
Quick Tip: Don’t be afraid to talk about your brand when responding to participants. Share what you do, why you do it and who you do it for. The key is to not bombard the other chatters with biz talk, but this can be a great promotion opportunity with the right lingo.
6. Be Transparent
People love to talk to someone they can relate to.
As bloggers, influencers, and entrepreneurs we are connecting with people every day, but transparency brings genuine connections.
Share your truth, your story, your journey; be as open as you can when chatting.
The more open you are the more opportunities you will have to connect with others during the chat.
If you are thinking of starting a blog, are a newbie in the blogging, influencer, or entrepreneur life, Twitter chats give you the opportunity to connect with like-minded people organically.
Go to the search bar and type in #twitterchat to find the chats that are happening daily. It’s never too late to start building your network and your brand.
