Many people do not believe me when I tell them that I book virtually all my coaching clients from Instagram. The usual response is – “Isn’t that a place where young people hang out” or “Really? Can you actually book clients on Instagram?!”
Instagram is the best social media marketing tool as it is not as crowded as Facebook. The best part is that it’s organic, meaning you don’t need to spend a ton of money on marketing to get your desired results.
I started off with Facebook ads, however it did not give me the results or even the engagement I desired… let alone clients!!!
Every now and then, I still try out a Facebook ad or two, just to see if anything has changed, but in my experience, Instagram still reaps better benefits and it’s free.
So how exactly does it work?
YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE = YOUR IDEAL CLIENTS
First and foremost, you need to know who your target audience is, so you know who you’re targeting. Many people make the mistake of thinking that the broader your target, the better it is. The opposite is true, the more you niche, the better it is.
Start by diving deep into who your ideal clients are. When you know clearly who they are, you will be able to find them on Instagram by looking for the hashtags they like to use.
FOLLOW YOUR IDEAL CLIENTS
Then follow your ideal clients on Instagram. Comment and like their posts and start some real genuine interactions! This is super important!
And the reward is truly worth your time. You can always time yourself. I spend on average of 30 minutes interacting on Instagram a day.
There are times I will spend a little more time as I am immersed in an interesting an engaging conversation with a potential ideal client. ?
YOUR CONTENT & FEED
When your ideal clients follow you back, make sure that your content and feed has what it takes to capture their attention. If you are a health coach, make sure it is clear in your feed that you are a health coach with pictures and content that will speak to your target audience.
Not all health coaches are the same, this is where you show your uniqueness.
If you are a health coach specializing in juicing, you may want to fill your feed with different healthy juicing options. This will attract clients who want to try juicing.

YOUR INSTAGRAM BIO
Just like your feed, your Instagram bio must clearly describe what you do so all who visit your profile do not have to guess. There are many times I check out someone’s profile and get a bit confused as to what they do.
Confusion = no sale.
This is not a time to be clever and create funny names that sound chic yet leave your ideal clients confused about what you do.
Be straight forward and clear. You only have 150 words so use it to the max and to your advantage.
YOUR INSTAGRAM LINK
You are only allowed one link on your Instagram bio, make use of this link to route them to your site or landing page so they can take advantage of your freebie.

Your freebie is the beginning of your sales funnel and a way to stay in contact with your followers by turning them into your subscriber.

Make sure that it is clear on your profile you have a freebie offer so that your ideal clients can get your freebie in exchange for their email.
This is where you nurture them from cold to warm to hot!
If you don’t have a drip email sequence, start building one.
No funnel = no sales = no business.
Every organization needs a sales funnel. It does not matter if you are a small solo business owner or a huge conglomerate.
