What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I was inspired to start my own makeup artistry business because of the freedom it gave me, which allowed me to create and explore.
Tell us about your business.
My business is all about educating and empowering clients to become their own beauty experts. One of my services is called the “Girlfriend Experience” where you get 3 hours of 1-on-1 shopping time, organizing and applying makeup techniques.
Are you currently running any promos/contests/giveaways that you would like our readers to know about?
YES! If you bring two friends to a makeup class, you get $50 off the normal $100 class fee.
My most recent published work can be seen in the November issue of EBONY magazine where I was the makeup artist for Simone Biles.
Where is your business based?
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
First I had to trust myself, then I networked and asked for help.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Networking with past clients and social media, specifically Instagram and Facebook.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Balancing motherhood and work as well seeking a consistent flow of clients.
How did you overcome these challenges?
Prayer, marketing and networking.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I love checking out social media to get inspired from other artists and entrepreneurs and traveling to reconnect with my creativity.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
My makeup services aren’t about how well I can slay your makeup, instead my focus is on the relationship between the artist and the client. My makeup classes are meant to encourage and inspire.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Have no fear.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Always be willing to accept help and be open to new opportunities.
