It’s no secret that getting traffic to your online store can be a challenge at first.
Whether you’re just starting up your e-commerce store or you’ve been in the game for a while and haven’t seen the traffic that you were hoping for. We are here to let you in on a couple tips and tricks for boosting your traffic no matter what platform you are on!
Something to remember when trying to direct traffic to your store is that when you’re not seeing results (and these can take some time so don’t quit right away), but try implementing some new ways of getting traffic.
Some tactics will work great for some and not for others, it’s all about how your audience reacts to the promotion you’re using.
We just launched LadyBossBloggerShop.com and here are the 5 traffic techniques we have used that have been successful.
5 Ways To Successfully Get Traffic To Your Online Store
1. Great Content
If you have a blog for your e-commerce store already, GREAT! But most e-commerce store owners neglect this crucial part of advertising their business.
There are ways to be successful without a blog, but if you want to drive high organic traffic to your site, I would highly recommend creating some sort of platform to connect with your audience/customers on a deeper level.
Online stores are typically more successful when they are linked to something more than just being a store. Meaning, when your customers can associate the products you’re selling with content that you produce for free, they are more likely to have a deeper connection to your products.
For example on LadyBossBloggerShop.com we sell business dresses, therefore it makes sense to create good content on our blog about how to wear them for different occasions among other topics. Below are some of our blog headlines:
- Top 10 Pink Work Dresses Of The Year

If this sounds too complicated or tiresome to do, I would encourage you to think about the products you buy and love, no matter what they are… there’s probably a reason that you purchase them.
Whether it’s a brand you trust or an author you like or a restaurant you love, there’s a high chance you use these products and services because there is a back story there that you are connected with. This is what we want to create for your e-commerce store.
Customers want to have a reason to purchase items deeper than just the materialistic value.
If a blog is a no-go for you, some other platforms that you can do this on include: a Facebook page, Youtube, or an Instagram “blog” which would consist of a collection of IGTV, stories, and photos on your feed all that are connected to your shop.
2. Email Marketing
This one should be a no brainer, but if not, listen up!
Generating leads and growing your email list is essential to staying in touch with prospective customers and recurring customers.
If you already have a blog or website and have grown a small following of people on your email list, then this is a perfect way to get an amazing spike in traffic!
Send out an email with a description of your store and offer an “Exclusive Email Subscribers Only” discount is a great way to get your readers’ attention, make them feel important, and make them feel valued as a subscriber of yours. Phrase the email however you may, but make sure to grab their attention with your subject title!
If you have yet to use email marketing, start now! If you don’t have no clue where to start, check out my course on How To Start And Monetize Your Email List which I created after I was learned how to garner 14K subscribers in under 1 year!!!
Regardless of what you do, know that your email list is the most important element in driving traffic to your site and the best thing to send to your audience is your high-quality blog posts.
3. Paid Ads
This isn’t for everyone, but if you have it in your budget, then we totally recommend you testing out a couple of different paid ads!
Paid ads are a great way to reach the exact audience you are targeting – something you can’t guarantee with other tactics.
Some platforms we recommend are:
- Google Adwords
4. Influencers
Another great way to increase awareness of your online store and grow your traffic is by collaborating with influencers. And by influencers, I don’t mean super famous social media users, instead, an influencer that will be an effective collaborator is one that has built a small following of people who are all potentially interested in your store’s products.
The main reason brands use influencer marketing is to get the chance to reach an audience that they wouldn’t get to otherwise – by this I mean the influencer’s audience. Try reaching out to some people within your niche that would be a good fit for your product.

A great way get influencers is by offering to give free or extremely discounted product(s) to influencers in exchange for their promotion of your online store/products. This way, the influencer can see and experience your product for themselves before they start promoting it as well as they can trust that your product is as great as you say it is.

5. Pinterest
Pinterest is another amazing way to generate organic traffic to your online store.
The main reason I love Pinterest as a way to gain traffic is that you don’t need a huge following in order to reach large audiences. In fact, there are users on Pinterest who have very small followings, but have thousands and hundreds of thousands of visitors/views per day simply because they know how to use the platform to their benefit.
The best way to get views on Pinterest is to join group boards. Group boards are boards that are run by one or multiple people but can have countless contributors. You can find boards related to your brand by looking at people in your niche or by using Tailwind. (Check out some of the accounts you’re already following to see if they are a part of any group boards!)
Within these boards, you can add posts and see other’s posts all in one area! Depending on the size of the board, that will be the size of the audience you will be reaching. In order to join these, you simply have to reach out to the leader of the board and let them know why you wish to join – it’s up to them who they invite.
There are SO MANY boards out there, it’s just a matter of finding, joining, and analyzing which ones will give you the best results.
Certain traffic generating practices will work better than others for some, but remember to try different tactics until you find something that you are seeing significant results in.
Regardless of the platform that your online store is on, these ideas are bound to work for you. However, I do recommend hosting your store on Shopify over WooCommerce any day! Although Woocommerce is “free” to first, you pay for it later in headaches and actually end up paying more down the road for all the required extensions.
Good luck and let me know which traffic generating tip worked best for you!
