A woman that exudes leadership, strength and inspiration describes the owner and founder of Kolmio Global, TaRhonda Harvey. To many, she is known for giving an inspirational word, but her passion lies in taking business ideas and bringing them creatively to life. Read our interview with the lovely TaRhonda below…
What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I was motivated to start my own business because I wanted to provide myself with opportunities, security and development. I have always had a passion for working with individuals and companies so I wanted to do what I love on my own terms.
Tell us about your business.
I am the owner of Kolmio Global, a Creative Agency. Kolmio Global specializes in Business Consulting, Website Design, Brand Development and Marketing. We provide creative and practical solutions to individuals, non-profits and companies. I am also the Founder of Bosses In Power; created as a network for men and women entrepreneurs to support each other through online and event networking. The mission of Bosses In Power is to promote business owners and develop a high level of brand awareness for each.

Where is your business based?
Both businesses are based out of West Palm Beach, Florida.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
One of the first few steps I took to get my business up and running was to brainstorm and write out my business plan. Within my business plan, I identified my business strategy, marketing plan and how I was going to accomplish these strategies in the most cost effective way. I outlined my initial business services with the goal that these services could expand into other areas.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
The most effective way of gaining more clients has been networking. I believe that networking is the key to building your business and your clientele. People want to get to know the person behind the business. It is a great opportunity to attend business mixers or social mixers to meet other individuals that could possibly utilize your services. Such platforms can be used to pass out your business cards and raise awareness to your business.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
My biggest challenge thus far has been work/life balance. It is so easy to get caught up with being successful that you start to lose yourself. You start to lose your individuality, all of your focus is on your business life that you tend to forget about yourself.
How did you overcome these challenges?
It is highly important to have a great support system around you. You need people in your life that will tell you when you need to stop and smell the roses. They understand your goals and drive, but they will tell you when you need to get away and spend some time to yourself or with your friends. They have your best interest at heart.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
Prayer. Being a female in a male dominated industry and a young woman managing her own business, you are challenged more than you desire. I have learned that challenges will come, but it’s how you deal with it that can impact the outcome. When I feel myself getting discouraged, I say a short prayer and leave it God’s hand.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
There are many business consultants and web designers out there but customer service will make or break your business. I build relationships with my clients, that is how I can provide the best service. I know what my clients need and what works for them because I know them as a “person.”
What is the best advice you have received recently?
Don’t sell yourself short. When you know what you are worth and the knowledge that you possess, you should not be fearful to charge exactly what your services are worth.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
As an entrepreneur, the best advice I could give is to remain true to yourself and keep going no matter what. Don’t chase after the money. Love and enjoy what you do and the financial stability will follow.
What is your favorite business tool or resource?
My favorite business tool is FreshBooks. It allows me to have access to my invoices while on the go. I can generate an invoice and accept client payments on the spot via mobile. Each payment automatically generates a receipt that can be emailed to my client. It’s perfect for my business financial needs.

What is a good article or book you have read recently?
I enjoy reading articles from Entrepreneur. One of the articles that was beneficial to me and stuck with me was titled, “5 Keys to Entrepreneurial Success in 2017”.
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I am currently learning more about the automated processes and systems that I have put in place within my business.
What are your goals for the next few months and how are you striving to achieve them?
My goals for the next few months is to gear up for my business seminars and webinars on beneficial topics such as Business Startup and Branding. As a way of giving back to the community, I take part in a breast cancer initiative every year to raise funds for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer.
