What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
I was motivated and inspired to start my own business, because I felt completely misaligned in my corporate career after 10+ years. I knew I was called to do more and had to create the right vehicle to put my skills, abilities and talents in so that I could help others step into their true purpose and build a business around it.
Tell us about your business.
My business is Latasha Hodges Enterprises – a business/personal development training company that helps women around the world step into their purpose and build business around it.

Where is your business based?
My business is online and based in Charlotte, NC.
What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
The first step I took was attending a business/marketing conference. I didn’t know a thing about starting an online business. I had a tax/accounting business prior to becoming a business coach but I wasn’t marketing myself online or building a brand online. After the conference, I bought my “name” domain and started to build an online presence on social media.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
The most effective way of raising awareness for my business and getting new clients have been on social media.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
The biggest challenge I‘ve had so far has been my obsession with the shiny object syndrome. I’m a learner and love to learn new ways of doing business and marketing.
How did you overcome these challenges?
I overcame this challenge by focusing on what do I need RIGHT now to move to my business forward.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
I stay motivated by staying prayed up. I pray throughout the day in all that I do. I believe in faith + business; therefore I seek God’s counsel on a regular basis.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
There are plenty of business coaches online to choose from, but I distinguish myself from them by being true to who I am and sharing my story and experiences with my style.
What is the best advice you have received recently?
The best advice that I’ve received recently is “know your worth”. After years of experience and investing in yourself, remember to charge your worth.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Don’t be afraid of being you, the world awaits for your uniqueness.
What are your favorite business tools/resources and why?
- Dropbox – I like the ease of organizing my media files and sharing specific folders with my team.
- Hootsuite – it’s a great time saver in scheduling social media posts.
- Evernote – I always have ideas popping in my mind, with Evernote I am able to quickly make a voice note as well as save articles I would like for future reading.
What is a good article or book you have read recently?
I recently read “Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear” by Elizabeth Gilbert.
What are you currently learning about for your business or looking for help with?
I’m learning that I do not have to do it all by myself; therefore, I’m currently building a team to support me.
