What motivated and inspired you to start your own business?
Coach Jennifer Gregg always knew she wanted to help people but wasn’t sure in what capacity. Starting J.Gregg’s Journey innovations came natural as a result of various trials and tribulations – including but not limited to being homeless, losing a parent, being broke and depressed. Mixed with years of education and experience, Coach J is able to relate to so many of life’s adversities. Aside from her qualifications and experience, she is a lover of people – people of all walks of life and cultures.
Tell us about your business.
Gregg’s Journey Innovations, LLC (JGJI) is a virtual life coaching business. JGJI provides individual life coaching sessions, group sessions, life skills, corporate team building exercises, ice breaking activities and empowerment/motivational speaking for youth & adults. Private events that can be customized to your theme or organization (i.e. a vision board party) and gift certificates are available. Healthy boundaries, trust, empathy, and how to meet someone where they are in order to reach their goal(s) are also apart of JGJI’s core values. Coach J believes she can work together with any client to make his/her journey a more enjoyable one. Whether you need help figuring out your next steps in life or trying to turn the lemons you’ve been dealt into lemonade – JGJI can help.

What were the first few steps you took to get your business up and running?
Prayed, did my research, asked a lot of questions, took notes, met with various mentors, put a lot of time and effort in.
What has been the most effective way of raising awareness of your business and getting new customers?
Word of mouth and social media.
What have been your biggest challenges so far?
Having clients commit to doing their work and pay for sessions.
How did you overcome these challenges?
Still working on it… in general, asking the universe to send me clients that are committed to getting help and making life changes.
How do you keep motivated through difficult times?
Meditating, meeting with mentors, reading motivational pieces, reflection on how far I’ve come, seeing clients succeed and knowing I am making a difference.
How do you distinguish yourself from your competitors?
I recognize that I am not in competition with anyone. The universe is big enough for everyone to make their own mark. 🙂
What is the best advice you have received recently?
From one of my mentors, continue to tell ‘your story’ it will inspire someone.
What advice would you give to other entrepreneurs?
Don’t give up during the tougher times. Don’t work for someone else all day and come home and not work on your dream. No matter how tired you are, try and do something that benefits your goals/dreams each day. It will all pay off in the future.
